Kelly Doherty Editor/Owner/Superhero
Kelly established The Alternative Tone back in the ancient times of summer 2012. An avid fan of sad songs written by sad boys with sad guitars, Kelly chooses to live a life based on the lyrics of The Smiths' Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, all played out across the damp streets of Cork, Ireland.
She listens mainly to emo and folk but sometimes she loses the run of herself and dances to Two Door Cinema Club. She also writes for Absolute Punk, State Magazine and is the Deputy Editor of the entertainment section of UCC's Motley Magazine.
Apart from music, Kelly's passions are the movies of Wes Anderson, debating about International Relations, spending weekends in universities pretending to be in the UN and reading Dave Eggers' A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius over and over and over again. She also hopes you enjoy her humble site and is starting to feel a little pretentious because she's spent the last while writing about herself in the third person so she's going to stop now.

Joe Franks Reviewer/Interviewer
Joe Franks runs the small indie label Hide Away Records and plays guitar in the band Sleep In. As you may have guessed he is not a morning person and enjoys coffee by the pot. He is also a recovering music snob who can now admit he likes Third Eye Blind.

Ben Curttright Reviewer
Ben Curttright is a creative writing student from Omaha, Nebraska. He plays guitar for indiepunk nobodies Rex Manning and reviews music for Funeral Sounds. Also, he has one of Tim Kinsella's guitar picks.

Being born and raised in a small town in Northwest Indiana, there wasn't much music I could get my hands on growing up, other than what was in my parents' immediate collection. As I grew older, however, my interest was peaked by the raw guitar chords, powerful drums and guttural vocals of punk, metal and hardcore alike. I have written material for Funeral Sounds, Mind Equals Blown and PropertyOfZack, as well as owned and operated The Scene As We Know It. I'm a sucker for a solid two-step rhythm and have been molded into who I am today by the boys in Underoath. If you'd like to get in touch, shoot me an email here: tylersharpfreelance@gmail.com

Im a astrophysics student from Glasgow, Scotland and a self-confessed vinyl nerd. I listen to mainly emo, pop punk, hardcore and slam death but have been known to enjoy a little post-rock or smooth jazz. When I’m not crying into physics text books I enjoy going to shows, reading dystopian fiction novels, paintballing and watching terrible B movies; my current favourites being Sharktopus and Dead Snow. I still refuse to accept that Set Your Goals are never coming back.

Born and bred in Brooklyn, New York, Joe Wasserman is an avid fan of alternative, punk, and emo music. When not brooding with his iPod Classic, he can be found writing stories, challenging social norms, questioning his life decisions, cooking, and drinking all kinds of beer. He also writes for What is Punk, and secretly might write his own songs. Feel free to have some discourse with him on Twitter or see what goes through his head (viewer discretion advised) on Tumblr.
